Do you have an official proof that the original version was the Telugu version instead of the Tamil version ?

This movie was released in both languages simultaneously, and neither is dubbed. It was shot in both languages natively.

Also, both language versions of this movie are available on the Indian Amazon Prime Video service, and the official Censor Board certification at the beginning indicates clearly a separate certificate for Telugu and a separate certificate for Tamil. Generally, if there is 1 original language and the movie is dubbed in other languages, the censor certificate indicates this explicitly.

I don't know what else would constitute proof to be honest. This is the first report I'm making across several hundred movies I've matched for my media server, so sorry if this isn't enough

How does TMDb generally handle bilingual movies? This movie isn't bilingual, but perhaps it may be treated in a similar fashion based on how bilingual movies are tracked.

Thanks for the update, but as the referenced link mentions, the tricky part is establishing the original language of the movie. Even the official posters on TMDb contain the posters for the Tamil and Telugu version. The first item under the Media section Most Popular for the movie is the Telugu version trailer, while the Tamil version trailer is under the 'Videos' section.

At the end of the day, is it the consensus that only 1 language can be recorded in the page, and that's the way it will be? I understand this problem is very niche and may not be worth addressing any other way, but just wanted to check if my understanding of the situation is correct. There are other instances of Indian movies being shot simultaneously in 2 or more languages, like Irudhi Suttru which was shot in Tamil and Hindi simultaneously, but has different release names (Irudhi Suttru - Tamil, Saala Khadoos - Hindi), Game Over shot in Tamil and Telugu, Eega shot in Tamil and Telugu with different release names (Eega - Telugu, Naan E - Tamil), Spyder shot in Tamil and Telugu.

There's an outlier to this with the example of Raavanan, which was shot simultaneously in 2 languages - Tamil and Hindi (with a Telugu dubbed version being released in conjunction with the other 2), with 2 different titles i.e. Raavanan for Tamil and Raavan for Hindi. In this case, the cast were also slightly different for both movies. Is that why this has 2 entries?

To summarize, these are the types of items that may need to be addressed: 1) Movies shot simultaneously in more than 1 language, with no obvious mechanism to determine the 'original_language', that also have the same title across all languages with the same cast - Generally for Indian movies, this seems to be for movies that have English names (like U Turn, Spyder or Game Over) 2) Movies shot simultaneously in more than 1 language, with no obvious mechanism to determine the 'original_language', that have different titles across the languages with the same case 3) Movies shot simultaneously in more than 1 language, with no obvious mechanism to determine the 'original_language', that have different titles across the languages with a different case - This seems to be the easiest one and is already addressed

Sorry if I'm complicating things more than they need to be. I started off with just one movie and have now opened a whole can of worms that I never intended to :D

There are no distinction between these cases. The management is exactly the same.

So would a new entry have to be created for the movie for it to be treated as 2 different entities? For movies that have the same name across languages, this may not be possible, but for movies that have different names, could this be done? I've already given an example of Raavanan and Raavan in my previous reply.

As indicated in the link I have given to you above, we accept only one single entry for movies shot simultaneously in multiple languages.

And, as you don't have any official proof that the original language currently selected should be changed, we will keep the entry as is.
