Prosper Bourrache, who has the gift of the gab, is natural born street vendor. Due to a mistake he gets involved in the burglary of a shady banker's house. In fact, the whole operation is a setup. But Prosper will finally get away with it, have the crooked financier arrested and pinch his girlfriend away from him.

Des gangsters ont rendez-vous avec un grand spécialiste de l'ouverture des coffres-forts; ils se trompent sur la personne et emmènent dans leur traction-avant un innocent camelot, Prosper Bournache, qui portait sans le savoir le signe de reconnaissance du spécialiste. Craignant pour sa vie, notre camelot ne détrompe pas ses ravisseurs et le voici lancé dans une aventure dont il aura beaucoup de mal à se sortir.

Но Просперу удаётся не только выпутаться из этой истории, но и отправить Лафаре за решётку и соблазнить его жену.
