Not very good

I don't know what I was expecting, but a surprisingly large part of this movie is two lead guys, who act like super macho dudes, talking to each other and other people in a boring and dramatical manner like some sort of primadonnas. It all just seems so out of place, and out of character for them, and also mostly unnecessary a lot of the times.
Not sure what is going on with Shia Lebouf again also. He is sporting cauliflower ears in this movie for some reason, and let's just say that he doesn't look like he got those from a boxing or BJJ gym or well....any sort of physical activity. I also read that he got his entire chest tattooed for this stinker. Not sure if he is just plain stupid or crazy, but the whole tattoo thing and cauliflower ear gimmick kind of reminds me of that scene in the Simpsons where they come up with a skateboard that does tricks on it's own and they declare that it is the "ultimate in poser technology". That's kind of what Shia comes across like in this movie.

Ok forget what I said. I had only watched half of the movie when I wrote that opening message. Now what I watched the latter half I can say that not only is not very good, but it is downright atrocious and it has to be worst movie I have seen this year so far. The lead "actor" Bobby Soto can't act at all and the supporting cast looks and acts like they were randomly picked from the street. The dialogue is amateurish to put it nicely. They story utter garbage. The action scenes are few and far between and you don't really what happens since the movie is so bad.

I'm a fan of Director David Ayer and the way he handles "friendships" onscreen. I saw this at a mom & pop theater nearby and this didn't disappoint, me & my teens ENJOYED it for what it was. Only complaint is how thin the plot is...its way too quick and short. And I really did think Shia showed HUGE potential, he was nailing the role IMO...a white guy raised among "calle" latinos (something Ayer knows a lot about), but...he is "dismissed" way sooner then I would've liked. Bottom line, Ayer has done BETTER...but it was hardly "atrocious".

I've found Ayer's past work like Street kings, end of watch and Sabotage quite decent, but this one really is atrocious and I find that a mild statement. I thought his Suicide Squad was bad but Tax Collector beats it by a mile. The acting is just amateurish at best by the lead and several members of the supporting cast.
Honorable mention goes to the leader of the bloods or crips who apparently talks like this :" You are a candle in the darkness". Who knew gangbangers talk like that. It was such an out of place and corny.....excuse me brilliant line that he even had to say it more than once.
I agree about Shia's "dismissal" and that is what I was referring to with him either being crazy or an idiot for getting his chest tattooed. He is shown for mere seconds in such a way that you could even see those tattoos.

Its about 20 mins from me, its called Zephryhills 10. They're currently showing MOSTLY classics, but they show the occasional recent release...I'm hoping they show New Mutants and Bill & Ted 3!

Shia was good... As he usually is... Probably the best American actor of his generation (definitely better than most of his peers)...
But the movie as a whole didn't feel cinematic or immersive... It's hard to put my finger on it... It's surprising because in Ayer's other movies, like End of Watch or Fury, you fall into the movie fully...
