Discuss A Dog's Journey

At the end of the movie, Bailey goes through all the cycles of his life and reunited with Ethan after passing over the rainbow bridge. Does anybody know why the original Bailey, the Retriever, was omitted from the scene? It left me confused that the dog that Ethan grew up with as a boy wasn't the one to come back at the end.

Considering the retriever Bailey was the original in Dogs Purpose, I was actually expecting that the St. Bernard would morph right at the last moment when he walked up to Ethan and run off into the sunset.

Anybody know if there was some creative decision to ignore that?
