This took a simple heartfelt tale and turned it into a tawdry overblown fantasy. Too many literary works are being "re-imagined" to their detriment - it seems everybody wants to take an established work and rip it to shreds so as they can insert modern attitudes and language. I suggest writers plumb their own imaginations and create stories of their own that don't bastardise the work of other successful authors.

I haven't seen this version & have no immediate plans to see it in the future. As for my favorite version, I prefer the one from 1993.

Here's a little bit of trivia, Colin Firth played the adult Colin Craven in the TV version from Hallmark in 1987.

Always a non-white implanted into a medium with a white girl. Of course they did it with one of the most wholesome white movies ever.
