Apparently, it's "not the right time" to release this piece of garbage.

I was on the fence about checking this one out, and now that I've read some background info on the movie, it appears it was definitely being released with some sort of political statement in mind; however, whether one thought this film looked like "garbage" or not, I think people are going to see more corporate actions of this nature . . .
Less "glamorization" of guns and extreme violence; and, in the present political and social climate,
Less nudity in film, and certainly fewer sex/love scenes . . . which we are already seeing decrease (compare films of the last 10 years or so to those from the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s) . . .
In short, many more PG and PG-13 films (and the European rating equivalents), and more films rated "R" for things like "smoking" and "themes of violence" (with not much actually shown).
I certainly believe that it's possible to make a good film without piling on the violence and/or gratuitous nudity, but I do worry what these new societal restrictions mean for artistic/expressive freedom, and I do think it will get harder even to do a relatively tame film that is light on the violence but tries to tackle an expanding list of topics that are deemed "too risky" or "unacceptable".

On that last paragraph, I think it will make room for better writers who are not hacks.

I dont like this. Might set a new trend of studios bending the knee to the outrage mob. Every film should get a release, film is art, and art is very subjective.

I have a feeling this movie is going to get the 'Trick 'R Treat' treatment..delayed, delayed & further delayed, until it unceremoniously gets released to home video...and maybe becomes a cult classic.

I'm not sure what you're saying here. I think it was mainly one thing that got this cancelled. The story features Trump supporters being hunted. Imagine if you will, turning the tables on this and having say... Barack Obama supporters being hunted. Can anyone imagine the absolute sh!tstorm that would accompany even the suggestion of such a film story?

From what I read it had more to do with the gun violence than the theme, but of course it is possible there was more than one reason the release was delayed . . . but also, let's remember, that it's extremely unlikely this would've been a straight-up "liberals kill the conservatives" movie. I mean think about it:
It's more likely the Trump-supporting captives wake up as prisoners on the liberal estate, a few of the conservatives get killed, and then the tables are turned and then some of the liberals die. This could've been a movie that people really talked about, where it was hard to know who to root for and who were the "bad" guys and who were the "good" guys . . . as I said, I think it will get harder to make movies like this, movies that are morally gray and don't follow the traditional definitions of what is acceptable, and what is not.
Anyway, that's my take on it.

As far as I could tell from the trailer, that's actually the storyline. I think just the suggestion that liberals hunt Trump supporters was off-putting enough for anyone on the right to be on board.
