It didn't even work in an ironic/cheeky way...absolute waste. When I heard Ryan Reynolds saying it was the "Michael Bay-est" movie ever, I thought he was poking fun at the industry...turns out he was just being accurate. Sadly, this puts a chink in his armor in my book too...I wonder if he regrets being involved? Honestly, he was the only reason I took notice of it. Dumb.
That's why I've watched the movie, because of Ryan. How bad can it be if Ryan is in it? I asked myself. Well, I got the answer. Wolverine's Deapool kinda bad. To make fun of it in Deadpool 3 kinda bad.
Hard to believe Ryan got paid $30 mill for this...just being his usual self! He has no acting range!
As for the film, more proof Michael Bay has NO clue how to tell a story..its just mindless action followed by MORE mindless action..I can't even remember what the plot was. lol. Netflix has been pouring more & more money on original content..but they need to choose carefully as they don't have Disney & the other streamers' deeper pockets!
But how are the John Wick films not "mindless action followed by MORE mindless action?"
IMO they are (especially deeper in the iterations), but how does one thing being just as bad not make this bad thing bad (or worse). Who enlisted the comparison in this thread? Unless I'm missing it in another post it seems you brought the comparison?
I have only seen one Wick film, don't recall which one now, but it had a coherent, if simple, plot. 6 Underground is just flash, whizz bang, bright colors, lots of noise, etc. like magazines for illiterate kids who like lots of pictures.
Some movies get viewers interested by giving incomplete pieces of the story in the first 10 or 20 minutes, then slowly giving the backstory, filling in the blanks as the story unfolds. The initial incomplete information serves as a promise to the viewer that this mystery will be explained and make sense if the viewer sticks with it, and pays attention. It it is done well, that format can make for a satisfying story. But if not done well then the movie is just a mess. And if there is no real effort to even try to make sense of the disparate bits and pieces, you just feel like you have been duped.
Ever listen to someone talking, building you up for a main point they are leading up to, giving you the impression you will be amazed when they finally tell you....but they never get to the point? Yeah, like that.
OK, I haven't actually watched even 1/3 of 6U so I admit, Wick is probably a better film, and yes, the first one had a plot at least and a protagonist with a clear mission.
I thought it was just me!! I turned it off after 15 minutes. Endless car chases and smart alec remarks do not a movie make.
Yep. I'm at the 12 minute mark and have had quite enough. Came her to see if anyone might have commented to hang in, it gets better. Nope. It'll be this for the next hour and 45 minutes.
No thank you.

Agreed...BUT..the direction, pacing and style of the John Wick...they got a way of bringing you in (although 3 was the weakest IMO).
