I have seen this film about four times and never tire of how the group starts out as a jaded "ghost hunting" TV crew and degenerates into a group of scared out of their minds non-scientific people. They all react differently, some in anger, some by spouting practical sounding BS to try and mitigate the things that are happening, and some just breaking down entirely.
While this idea has been done many times since and even before (the BBC 1992 "Ghostwatch" for example) the actors truly bring their characters to life. Maybe there was no actual script, just a series of scenes and the players reacting to the scenarios in character but naturally. Whatever the method used, there is a feel of authenticity to their performances I do not get from other such "reality TV gone wrong" films.
Actress Ashleigh Gryzko especially comes across as authentic. From a jaded expert investigator to a scared little girl, she is spot on.
Sean Rogerson is the star, though. His character is the last to stop "filming a show" and deal with the horror engulfing them. By then it is too late.
Actually, it was too late from the beginning. None of them had a chance.
No wonder most of the cast has gone on to work extensively in TV and film (except Ashleigh whose IMDB credits stop in 2014. Where are you?)
