Discuss Motherless Brooklyn

It has a hefty runtime of two hours and 24 minutes, but let me tell you it is no Godfather or Titanic! Watching the movie you can't help but to think in every other scene "is this scene really necessary" and a lot of the stuff just seems like unnecessary filling and I kept thinking 'How much more of this is there still'. I think Edward Norton wanted to make the character somehow much more memorable by including the tic disorder in the movie, but with a mediocre and long winded story it just feels like an unnecessary pointless gimmick and watching Edward Norton spaz out in almost every scene just becomes tiresome, unnecessary and distracting after a while.

It was surprisingly boring given the cast involved.

It was disappointing. I hoped this would revive Norton's career and I do love Noir. I wouldn't have said it was boring, but it was too clean looking for a gritty noir. Kind of like a TV movie. It was also pretty cliched. And yeah, I agree the tourette's syndrome did feel like a gimmick to try to make the film stand out from the typical noir.
