Was Andy (Luke Evans's son) really into Ma? At the end he says he loves her and then kisses her, but it was set up as if this was going to be a ploy so he could do something (e.g. grab a knife while she's distracted). But he never backs down, it's only Ma who breaks it off by stabbing him and calling him a liar.

Also earlier in the film he sort of admits to Maggie that he does like the fact he knows Ma is into him. Did I miss something or could he have felt something for her?

Overall I liked the film, had potential to be more but there was something missing to it.
