not taken their own life prior to release (something I didnt know while watching it). It is engaging enough, but the ending is a mess. The message is that we all know that the grass isnt always greener, but lets go and check that field anyway even though it is futile. Oh, and lets abduct a little girl along the way. Alas it has the hallmarks of being made by someone with severe mental health issues and, as review by The Observer points out, it comes across as a 4hr "nihilistic suicide note". But that is completely irrelevant in judging the quality of the film.

The director had some ability but with the running time it is hard to recommend unless you've a morbid fascination in the how a suicidal person might view the world. It's a sad tale, but this was not a masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination.
