The mysterious disappearance of a man affects the lives of four different people, all living in loneliness in the suburbs of Quebec: the wife of the missing person, an aging ex-gambler, a young receptionist who want to share her life with somebody, and a father looking to help his family.

Une infirmière quinquagénaire s'inquiète de la disparition subite de son mari, aperçu pour la dernière fois à bord de l'autobus qui le ramenait chez lui. Un chômeur accepte de se relocaliser pour occuper un emploi d'agent d'assurances lui permettant de soutenir sa famille. La jeune et solitaire réceptionniste d'un hôtel rêve d'avoir un enfant mais peine à trouver l'homme qui partagera sa vie. Un vieux brocanteur au bord de la faillite, partagé entre la femme qu'il aime et sa passion pour le jeu, tente de trouver l'argent nécessaire à une chirurgie périodontique. Ces quatre destins, qui n'ont en apparence rien en commun, se croiseront au fil de quelques semaines.
