Discuss Gravity

They open the film with a statement that "there is nothing to carry sound" then proceed to fill the soundtrack with muffled sounds of astronauts working in space. Why?

Good question. Space is a vacuum, IIRC. I haven't seen the film yet -- I am interested in seeing it. Perhaps the filmmakers were using those sounds to make the film more dramatic and engaging?

There are some knowledgeable posters on this topic posting about the US going back into space on the TV board... if only some of them would see this post!!

I understand WHY they did it (to be more dramatic and engaging), but it's still lame. And the film is rather dull in general once you get past all the crazy people flying around in space bullsh!t.
