Discusión Won't You Be My Neighbor?

I really don't know what to make of something like this, when I see people talking about unearned specialness, especially as someone from the "millennial" generation (1985) I hardly think the rise of narcissism in society can be directed at someone like Fred Rogers. A lot of the problems faced by my generation and after stem from people who refuse to acknowledge their own part in the rise of narcissism (i.e. those who constantly need to look down on someone who had it tougher in their day etc).

What makes Rogers special is that he seemed to care about everyone, children mostly as he realised that they needed safe environments to grow up in in order to become good human beings. Even adults that were seemingly broken. He cared.

I agree. I was shocked to see the criticism (and must have missed it when it happened in real life), but I loved that the film makers let him answer with his own words, saying to a group of college graduates, "And what that ultimately means, of course, is that you don't ever have to do anything sensational for people to love you."

Well the people on Fox News are morons. Hell whole tenets of Christianity is that you are special because your a creation of god. and Considering that Fred Rogers was a Christian. Its not hard to see where he was coming from. But i don't think Rogers preached narcissism. A lot of his program was about how to treat others with respect. Not to mention his show had been on since the 60's. Long before people started complaining about those pesky millennials that Han Solo refuses to pick up.
