Okay, this post assumes you've seen the movie, thus, spoilers, etc.
Was anyone else (besides me) expecting some kind of reveal that Jimmy's poems weren't really his own creations? Maybe he got them from his uncle (a struggling writer, and actually the one who helped him start memorizing poems)... Another "hint" (so I thought) is when Lisa goes to her poetry teacher's office, and he's talking to another student about how easy it is for a computer to create poems based on algorithms, and that they even sound halfway decent... So I thought, aha! That's what the kid is doing...he's generating the poems from a computer.
Something just seemed "off" about how the kid was with his poems. He didn't seem invested in them, or enthusiastic, or anything. So I thought it was, here she's going through all this weird drama thinking she's found a genius when really he was just copying the poems from somewhere else.
But the last scene with his "I have a poem" in the police car obviously makes me think they really were his. So, I was wrong. Just curious if anyone else thought that...
