Of course, I am talking about the final scene with Patrice and Ron where they answered the knock on the door with guns drawn. He just LOVES using that rail shot where the characters are moving towards something but not walking. It just felt out of place and dated. I've seen him use it in other films and it usually looks out of place.
Anywho, his best movie since Malcolm X and although good it wasn't great. Those final Charlottesville scenes were haunting and powerful though.

Put me down as someone who LOOKS FORWARD to that shot. Its a Spike Lee Joint staple..and in this movie's case, well deserved! (found this movie to be excellent)

To each his own. I personally think it looks forced most of the time. The one film of his I saw that I kinda liked it in was Clockers .

SPOILERS AHEAD.
The film is very good, in my opinion! Didn't mind the rail shot at all. I loved the scene wherein Ture spoke up to defend Patrice from the touchy-feely cop -- it was like a response to that similarly inflammatory scene in Crash, in a way. But Lee's film was really loaded with references to later events. Take that, MAGA people!
Also, I think I noticed an interesting trick done in the film with a character's name in it -- I thought it was a little stupid for the Patrice character to turn down Ron romantically simply because he was a police officer. He takes the time to remind her that he saved her life, and she won't budge... anyway, Patrice's last name is "Dumas," which is only a couple letters away from "dumbass." Maybe Lee named her, and believes that she really is a dumbass for her dogmatic thinking? I liked this idea.
