Not bad on its own, but very reminiscent of La Femme Nikita. Still, I'd rather watch a Russian model f.uck the bad guys up than that dumb John Wick.

If so this would make it the 352nd time this story has been remade. I always thought we needed another one, especially from the same director.

Everything about this movie reminded me of Milla Jovovich. It felt like the movie was written just for her, even Sasha Luss looked and acted as if Jovovich was playing it. I think Luc Besson either wrote this while he was still married to her 20 years ago or was thinking of her when he wrote it.
I was just telling a friend Besson movies aren't always good, but they're always interesting. He reminds me of Kubrick in that way. 40 years from now, I'm sure he'll also have a cult following praising him as a genius.

I don't know why Besson would make a film so similar to LFN, but I still liked it. I'd watch a sequel.

He's just a director. I rarely see a film that illustrates any kind of "genius" extant in its director. When Gravity was released, a friend of mine was gushing about the genius of the director, but I have never seen that film. Since it grossed $723.20 million USD, maybe that is actual genius.

He's not just a director. He wrote many films as well (65 films total so far), including Lucy, Taken, The Transporter, District B13, La Femme Nikita, Léon: The Professional and The Fifth Element. How do you not know Besson wrote Nikita?

I'm pretty well aware of his films. I've been watching them since seeing Subway in a theater in 1985. What I'm saying is, Einstein is a "genius," movie directors are very, very, very below that.
