This film was never meant to be a beat for beat re telling of the Jokers origin. Hell 95% of the films/TV shows today arent true to the source material they take from. You nailed it on the head when you said its going to be like Black Swan, a decent into madness. Its DC’s experimental character study of a beloved character. This is going to be a character-drama, not a comic book origin film where he falls into acid.

I don’t know if Joker will be a good film or not, but I have a feeling it will surprise many people and I mean that in a good way. Pure DC comic fans like yourself should learn to separate the medias. And not have to high expectations, shit I have nothing but pessimism for everything that comes out and either surprises me or sucks out right. Oh and turn down the background music next time so we can hear you better.

Yeah, my friend is already praising it and claiming that it will be the best thing ever after seeing the trailers. I warned him to just wait until it comes out, and temper his high expectations because it didn't look like the true Joker origin story, which he's always been a huge fan of.

It might be good. I'm hoping it will be, but I've been disappointed before with films I thought would be awesome. Venom from last year immediately comes to mind.

Andre has always had a strange relationship with DC; He hates Nolan's movies, Joker and the upcoming Matt Reeves Batman movie but loves both of Joel Schumacher's Batman flicks.

He also loves Superman III so he's not completely insane.
