The movie starts out introducing the audience to a narcissistic wealthy brat. It goes into great deal about his self absorption developing a rich villain...
I wait for the hero to be introduced as it continues on following the unlikable little brat.
Then the realization that the rich brat is supposed to be the hero.
The movie goes steadily downhill from there. Becoming more and more ridiculously convoluted.
And apparently fairies are a technologically advanced race who have been hiding in mega cities deep underground for centuries.
Followup: Apparently the character in the books is supposed to be evil... So strange.

You just watched Disney saving themselves the embarrassment of releasing this shit in cinemas and making back half its budget.

Apparently, in the book Artemis Fowl was supposed to be the villain of the story. They didn't really convey that in this movie. In fact, the editing was so bad that the plot was almost undecipherable, and it was impossible to make out anything the movie was trying to convey.

Interesting.
At Rotten Tomatoes the critics score (9%) is lower than the audience score (21%). Usually it's the other way around.
The rating at IMDb (4.0) is also lower than here at TMDb (58%).

Haven't seen it but I'm sat here wondering why a boy is called Artemis, which is like calling him Diana in my mind.
