"Spider-Wise" is one of the **least **liked thing about the original IT TV movie by most fans...I seriously doubt they'll go that route again, and be seriosuly shocked if they do!

The book makes it clear that "It" is not a spider, but that they see a spider because that is the closest thing to it's real form that their minds can comprehend, and I'm pretty sure the TV movie version states as well in the dialogue between the characters.
And as far as it goes, a spider, which lures insects into its web in order to kill and eat them IS a pretty good analogy to what "It" is.

HAHA...They reused the Spider bit again, although with a slight change and MUCH more of a threat! Still good though!

Well, personally for me, that would be terrifying...so I guess it would work as a horror film. I would hate to see a giant spider anywhere. I don't think I could even play through Resident Evil 1 and 2 again because of those parts. I don't even want to see them on screen, and it would freak me out.

They didn't "re-use the spider bit", they accurately adapted the novel. I have not seen this film, but I'm betting that just as in the novel and the 1990 TV miniseries adaptation, they make it clear that it is not that Pennywise IS a spider, but that they SEE a spider.

That's like saying that Man of Steel 'reused the superpowers idea' from Richard Donner's 1978 Superman film.

Wasn't it supposed to represent the incarnation of evil or something? It would have been awesome if they had mentioned that because I still have the bad taste in my mouth from the mini-series. Seriously would't have minded it if they built up to it or had something to reference it earlier.

Pennywise definitely needed guards.

The movies unlike the miniseries try to giver a deeper explanation of what It is and from what I understand is that It is an alien without corporeal form it takes the shape of the things we fear the most since it feeds on fear(much like the alien in Star Trek's Wolf In The Fold). But it is alien nonetheless.Mr Gray from Dreamcatcher is basically It.
