The film follows the exploits of Jacques, a car-mechanic turned pro-thief, and his Jewish co-conspirator Simon as their robberies, beginning well before the Second World War, take on a political coloration under the occupation.

Deux truands, Jacques et Simon, sont poursuivis par le policier Bruno. Dans leurs mésaventures, ils rencontrent Lola, une entraineuse. La guerre éclate, nos trois compères optent pour la résistance, puis reviennent à leur premières activités.
