Seems like it was either written well earlier on then they ran out of ideas to keep it interesting half way through. Probably wouldve benefited more with buildup. The hex thing seemed to come out of nowhere

True that. I liked the general idea. But it wasn't well thought trough. For instance, the order in which everybody took turns, is 'borrowed' from Final Destination. The fact that choosing 'Truth' was only an option if at least 1 'dare' was performed every three turns, sounded contrived. And their reactions to the deaths of their friends (especially the first one on the pool table) was weird. They hardly showed any emotions.

the must take dare was completely forced and while watching i started to get very annoyed. I knew this movie was gonna go on a downward spiral after that.

I enjoyed it all the way through. I knew It would be a lot like Groundhog Day, and I like time travel movies...I guess you can say this is like a time travel movie. It was also like watching Edge of Tomorrow which I also enjoyed.

I'm sorry, but have seen a different movie?
'Truth or Dare' had nothing to do with time travel (à la Groundhog Day).
It was a movie about people who got into a sort of mystic Truth or Dare game. No time travel.

I'm sorry, your right! I was thinking about Happy Death Day. What's funny is I just noticed the movie poster says "The Producer Of Happy Death Day And Get Out Invites You To Play" Even without the time travel, I do recognize the similarities.
I also enjoyed Truth or Dare very much. Movies like this I don't take seriously, after all; it's only entertainment. So it does not bother me if something completely makes sense or not...like having to take the dare even if you don't want to. I just look at that as being that's just the way it is; so I just roll with it. There's only so many different ways people can die in horror movies that anything different than just some guy chasing people down (Halloween, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm street") since that has been already been done for many years. I see that as creative if not brilliant on the screenwriter's part, or anyone else who worked on the narrative of the story.

He wasn't a friend, just an annoying classmate. But yeah, they were quite placid over his death.
I do agree that this was like Final Destination. I was waiting for something to happen that allowed one of them "to skip their turn". However I enjoyed this overall.
