Why? I think the original is great. I recently bought the UHD Blu-ray box set. Haven't watched it yet but I am looking forward to viewing them when I finally upgrade to the UHD 4K TV!

Because Hollywood is creatively bankrupt and has been since roughly the 1990s.

Boy, talk about a time capsule, I didn't upgrade to a UHD display and player till nine months later! Today I've had my new 4K TV for one year and only watched Monster Hunter in UHD Blu-ray once. I think the movie is good to a point then it gets bogged down somewhere near the 3/4 mark then picks back up at the end. Now, even though this thread is about Monster Hunter, above I was originally talking about watching my copies of Resident Evil from my UHD Blu-ray Resident Evil box set.
Haven't watched it yet!

I guess the first Resident Evil was such a runaway hit & spawned 5 sequels...why not?
I personally wish RE had stuck to its roots...and if its ever rebooted, they go that route...but who knows.
