Spinning Man - Im Dunkel deiner Seeleについてのディスカッション

So, you wait for the end of the movie to get some kind of an intelligent and satisfying conclusion to the case of the disappearance and suspected murder of a person only for the movie to pull a "Lol. She wasn't murdered son! She fell down a hill and died because of an accident" move on the viewer. Then the movie tries to turn into some philosophical deliberation on the veracity of human memory and what we subjectively interpret as the truth. There you are sitting and scratching your head thinking :"The hell is this.... I didn't want this crap....all I wanted was a simple murder mystery not some second rate longwinded drama about philosophy@

Yeah I agree, that was pretty lame.

I think the disappointment started from the moment the daughter pretended that Evan wasn't her dad. I was hoping that all was not what it seemed in a deeper, psychological way, but alas, she was just annoyed with him.

Even the very end it could have been more sinister by having him kill Anna but nooooo, he just punched a bin a few times.

I liked the idea of interweaving the whole philosophy of language & nature of truth dealio into the plot, but they couldn't make it work. That said, it is the nicest looking film I've seen in a long time.

Agree... It was like the point was that every student he kissed, tripped and hit their heads... really!?

I disagree... the whole point is to not give you closure, so you can appreciate how the main character feels...

I liked how ambiguous they left it at the end... fitting for the theme of the movie, where the protagonist can't keep a concrete hold on what's gone on... the narratives we tell ourselves and the ones we tell one another, etc... It's a consistent theme, even his student, the pretty black girl, tells herself a narrative to rewrite their relationship so she can move on...

I think it's a far better movie than people give it credit for... seems to have slipped under the radar... I thought the fact that we end up feeling empathy for him by the end it would be ripe for conversation...

I thought he cinematography was ok, but I didn't like the colour grading... it seemed like they just through a green filter on it... lol... Perhaps they didn't have the budget or time to give it proper attention...
