if you take aside whole movie trying to impress you with wealth there it's almost no story and even what's left it's extremely predictable on par with 80/90s TV movies

Indians are the third largest ethnic group in Singapore. I was equally concerned by the complete absence of Malays, the second largest (and original native) race. As I stated in another thread, people would be up in arms if a movie set in New York featured nobody other than wealthy whites. I haven't read the books but apparently the other main races do feature.

I really wanted to like Crazy Rich Asians. It was such an event here in Singapore and a couple of people I know are in it. But I found it a drag, only sporadically funny and packed with characters either annoying or irritating. Michelle Yeoh was the best thing about it, but even she couldn't really do enough.

Dont you guys know? Its only racist if you are white. And if you are male or straight god help you. You are basically Hitler! As for the film, I found it to be fun but basically the same just like all the other Cinderella/Rich family/acceptance/ films out there...except with Asians.

Quite a few of the actors were mixed race, but yeah, can see what you're getting at.

I get cheesed off by films of Richard Curtis; his films are generally set in one of the most diverse cities in the World, London, but generally have an all white cast (except Love Actually) - even the extras!

Back to the film itself; very clichéd and yes, like an Asian Richard Curtis film
