The most basic question, "Why?" is never answered in this movie. I've known a boatload of meth addicts. I lived in the meth capital of America 100 miles north of San Francisco and I never saw such a well fed and calm meth head in my life. No paranoia, no anger or outbursts, no tweaking at all? There was no emotional connection to the characters, I kept hoping for a reason to care. It never appeared. How did Nic fund his habit all those years? None of this makes any sense in real life. It's the Disney version of upper class upper class limousine liberals in San Francisco prettying things up for the neighbors, explaining away a public family embarrassment, while exploiting it to make some major cash. Only the most gullible and inexperienced would find any meaning in this. It's annoying, cloying, ingenuine and falls flat.
