Discuss The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society

Didn’t know the story, just watched it for the unique and very long title. Loved the cast , all were great and very endearing.

Are you interested in the time frame, the location, the particular actors?

actually all those things hehe, mostly atmosphere (scenery) and type of characters.

Here are just a few that I enjoyed:

The Englishman Who Went up a Hill but Came down a Mountain

Calendar Girls

Waking Ned Devine

Greenfingers

Ladies in Lavender

Gosford Park

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont

Their Finest https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/340101-their-finest?language=en-US has the wartime setting, some scenery and a lady writer at the centre. Worth a look but be warned something happens when the end is in sight that kind of sours the movie.

Thanks for the tip, I enjoyed this film and I like Gemma Artertan so will check it out.

For some reason this film did make me think of a watered-down version of Atonement.

The only thing I would say I didn't like was that Juliet treated her American fiancé pretty crappily.

Just watched it, I kinda saw it coming when Sam was walking away but also thought, nope I'm thinking weird things then yeah...it happened.

I also watched a film that I thought would be similar to this called The Bookshop but I fell asleep so I will try to watch it again since the cast looks good.

Everyone at Château LeMarchand felt that "that bit" in TF was just out of sync with the rest of the film.

"The Bookshop" has been on the "To Watch" list for a while now, must get around to it...
