I mean it. After so many years of blowing 50 dollars to go see a movie, only to leave disappointed and annoyed, it was great to go into a theater and see a film being made by a creator who not only cared about the story he was telling, but the audience as well. There are too few of those these days.

Man, it was nice to actually enjoy myself at the theater again.

Enjoyable as GOTG3 was, I must say that seeing it at the multiplexes was still nowhere near as fun as watching The Dark Knight Rises was in Aurora, back in '12

Well this conversation just got dark quickly.

Re-learning to forge merriment out of our trauma is a skill we all must cultivate, if life is get a little bit saner in this post-pandemic world in which we live

Hmm, "merriment" might not be the right word, but "amusement" serves pretty well, and I agree. After my time in China, my own sense of humor is a lot...darker than it used to be. So is my alcoholism. I like a healthy dose of alcoholism to go with my trauma.

This is the weakest Guardians of the Galaxy movie but it's still awesome.

Honestly? I disagree. I think the first film was the weakest overall, mostly due to the villain.

Really? I thought the first movie is the best one. The dynamic of the characters was at its best.

There's a lot I like about it, and I agree that the character dynamics are great, but it still is very much an introduction to them. There was a lot of room for them to grow, dramatically, and like I said, the villain was pretty shallow. We got no real backstory for him, no really meaningful motivation, he more or less just exists so the plot can happen.

I liked the villain. The movie was of a lighter tone which I absolutely loved.

The second movie was just a more personal ride concerning Staarlord family. And the third movie was depressing some times.

I thought it was great. 🤷‍♂️

A raccoon. A goddam raccoon. A raccoon!!! Wow, I am not at liberty to say how his backstory affected me, but what a ride. I found out the origin of the name Lila and all that.

Only… I couldn’t help but wonder why the filmmakers decided to make a black person the guy who committed the heinous act against RR. A black man — or a being who looked just like one. Worthwhile flick.

Be...cause that actor knocked it out of the fucking park? Gunn worked with him on Peacemaker so it fits in with him casting people he's worked with. Morgan Freeman has complained repeatedly that Hollywood refuses to let him play villains. I, for one, welcome seeing more well written black villains, just so long as they're not just typical thug/drug dealer/gang member villains. Wesley Snipes as Simon Phoenix in Demolition Man is one of my favorite movie villains ever.

Whoooaaaaa, I see some of my words got deleted....

It's like in movies and television shows. There are guidelines and content can get bleeped, muted, silenced, deleted, edited, or redubbed.
