The actors do a fine job, the two leads (Blunt and Krasinski) have real on screen chemistry, the children are ok, especially the girl, the setting and atmosphere are moody enough, the tension is there but the starting premise is stupid: some (alien) predators manage to almost wipe out all of mankind while the world's armies can't figure out how to defeat basically some huge bats? Really? No sonic weapons for monsters that rely on hearing? Come on.

this also, but at least it's plausible
all the military forces in the world being defeated by animals it's not

if you say so, it must've been a hell of a horde, billions of them, locusts swarms, given the fact that a shotgun blast is enough to kill one Anyway, I fail to see the point in arguing the levels of silliness , to each his own. For you it's the unprotected sex, for me it's the military part.

I liked this movie a lot! But yes! I'm glad someone else said it...I kept thinking "who the hell would conceive a baby in such a nightmare world? What an irresponsible thing to do!"
Again...I liked it...but that aspect of the movie bothered me!

Where/when did they have sex if their kids were around all the time? That should be a bigger issue than them actually having a baby.

I really don't see why people take the time to write so much about films that they obviously hate. What if it was a horde of aliens, complete with superior technology and the element of surprise on their side? When you question the premise of a film that fails your expectations, it's an easy win because the premise is the foundation of the movie. And seeing how we aren't told how the earthlings lost to the aliens, your perspective really comes off self-serving on the "silliness" argument. You don't even argue your side especially well, you just ask easy questions of a film that owes you nothing (since on its own merits, the film is ironclad).

What if they did it with contraception, and it was an accidental pregnancy anyway? Believe it or not, these things do happen to people!
EDIT: For these people, the world has ended..... the human mind doesn't always make the best decisions under such duress and confusion. Not excusing their doing the "one thing that will get (them) killed," just stating that they don't live in an ideal world, that's all. Any number of things could have happened to cause them to have another pregnancy.
