Why did the girl keep the non-working hearing aid on? Were they testing a weakness against the aliens or was it pure luck?

I wasn' t sure why the daughter kept it on. But I did think while the father was working on a hearing aid for his daughter, his experiments found that a certain frequency might hurt the creatures . The camera kept focusing on the markup board that said "Weaknesses?"

A friend of mine believes that she wore it out of comfort and it was just blind luck that the hearing aid hurt the creatures.

I thought that though she couldn't hear, she could sense some sort of movement or change in sound waves or something thanks to it. Like when you sense someone is behind you without seeing them (though, ironically, she did not sense the creature).

I didn't know it was non-working, and I didn't know she was partly deaf. I just thought it was fun for her to amplify the sounds around her like I discovered when first using microphones. I do know one thing; if she didn't; the movie would not have had the ending it had.

Teen girls are still prone to setting fashion trends, even in a post Apocalyptic world it would seem

And you're talking about a hearing aid?
