Discuss Acts of Vengeance

It's actually one of those movies they shoot in eastern Europe where they usually hire a famous or semifamous actor to "headline" a bunch of movies, but the actor is in the movie only for a minute or two. Not the case in this movie, however. The movie was apparently shot in Bulgaria, but I found the movie to be a quite positive surprise and it kept me more or less interested through and through even though the plot is something that has probably been seen dozens of times already. Antonio Banderas is also in the movie throughout so it's not really one of those traditional cashgrabs a la Steven Seagal.

Some SPOILERS below The movie does take quite a few artistic liberties with common logic, though. Take for starters the underground fighting circuit, which, for some reason, apparently has no problem repeatedly letting an out of his mind drunk old guy in the ring to repeatedly get his a*s kicked. Apparently the bar patrons watching the fighting find these to be good matches to bet on too. A middle aged spanish guy apparently has X-men like healing abilities and can take repeated bashings and isn't really even phazed by a knifewound or gunshot either. Luckily after the gunshot an ER nurse just happens on the scene. The ER nurse, of all people, just decides to take this unknown man with a gunshot wound to her house instead of calling an ambulance and delivering him to a hospital. I guess you shouldn't be surprised there's also a minor subplot where random Russians have previously just showed up at the hospital and intimidated the nurse so she just started stealing meds for them instead of, say, telling her superiors or calling the police.

What? This is awful! You even highlighted the issues in detail...in no way is this decent. Karl Urban was wasted and barely in it, same with Paz Vega. Robert Forster has one scene.

Security was much better, also filmed in Bulgaria I believe.

And for the record it looks like Banderas has turned into Steven Seagal/Nicolas Cage by churning out a fair few low-ish budget films in 2017 alone...
