One reason I've heard for people being against women in combat (the Senator and LT O'Neill even have this discussion in the movie) is because the public supposedly doesn't want to see women killed and/or wounded. I'm right by LT O'Neill, and I find that absolutely repulsive! It gives the indication that a woman's life and safety is more important than a man's, and also makes it sound like my 2nd cousin being KIA in Vietnam didn't matter because he was a man. Very upsetting! True feminism is about the genders having equal legal rights, career and education opportunities, etc. Unfortunately many people today associate feminism with man-hating and female supremacy. Well, if someone is against women in combat because it's more horrible for a woman to be wounded or killed, then they're practically endorsing the negative stereotype. See where I'm coming from?
