Discuss The Nun

In fact if you replaced The Nun with Dracula, it would have worked better. This movie had the setup with the old Castle, Coven of Nuns were the Priest with his Nun Consort and a local Villager, who had a brief appearance in the first film, who if written correctly could have saved the day while at the same time being scary, instead it fell flat and flat like a cheap rip off of the Old Horror classics. I also felt that the ending was rushed with a convenient plot device with a tagged on reference to the first film. This movie had a lot of potential, however feel flat with the writing, it felt like they were rushed to come up with a background story with this series.

I agree, I chalked it up to maybe my expectations being ridiculously high given the setting (the Abbey was gorgeous). But yes, the Nun could've been a VAMPIRE and it would've been equally interchangeable.

I think they are trying to keep this franchise relevant without having to make another Conjuring Movie, so they push out these side characters without having any story arch to build on or leading to something. So I think they rush the writing process and pushed it out without ever building anything relevant, we know about the confrontations in the 1st and 2nd film, so with this film, where do you go? It felt like some writers were tasked with doing this and didn't have any clue where to go or build on the Franchise.
