So what does everyone think of the new images? Its a mixed bag for me. The Freman suits look to much like biker gear and not suits made in caves for water collecting. I dig the armor for the Atreides. One thing Im worried about is the quote from the article, "What Denis had stated to me was there was a lack of female characters in his cast, and he had always been very feminist, pro-women, and wanted to write the role for a woman"...Dune is full of strong women. I would even argue to say the books are carried by strong women characters. So I dont know wtf this person is talking about.
I also dont like how in the article they refer to Lady Jessica as a “warrior priestess" and a "she’s a soldier." That is not what the Bene Gesserit are. They are witches and master manipulators. Yes they can do amazing things when it comes to fighting but they are not 'soldiers.' I also cant wait to see Baron Harkonnen in all his nasty glory. I hope they dont tone down his gay pedo loving ways. Hes supposed to be vile and disgusting. I can see the studio trying to tone it back to not offend the gays and fatties. Cause you know, we cant have evil gay guys in films.
I dont know, I have high hopes for this but I dont know how the general public is going to be able to follow everything. Even if they did split the first book into two films. I just hope this wont end up on the "Get Woke Go Broke" list.
EDIT: Just read that this film is also about anti capitalism...wtf? Dune is about the dangers of ideology, and theocracy. Jesus, also they're writing it as a warning against climate change. The main goal of the Fremen and Liet Kynes is to DELIBERATELY induce a man made climate change because they are tired of living on such an arid planet. Did anyone actually read the damn books? This is looking more and more like Hollywood fucking with the source for no damn reason.

I'll reserve judgment on the changes between the book and the film, for now, though I still think that Dune will never be a mainstream film. I'd lay odds that it'll produce the same results as Villeneuve's Blade Runner 2049 in that it'll have great critical reviews and mediocre box office. (It might do even more poorly without big-name actors like Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling and no, Josh Brolin isn't a draw.) I just think that the concept, and all its weirdness, works as a book but is too difficult to follow for anyone that isn't able to really concentrate on the details.
I'll say this from the pictures:
As for the rest, I'm not surprised that the actors don't know what they're talking about.

Your post is the example of what a terrible mistake women make when they don't close their legs during sex, a stupid mistake. A blind twat made a clueless comment about looks and I acted appropriately you twat.

I think Rebecca Ferguson was perfectly cast. Chani on the other hand, not so much.

I couldn't remember the miniseries stillsuits so I had a quick look — very peculiar in comparison to the body-hugging film ones, more like fatigues with a few small pipes. I suppose the hood makes some sense in terms of absorbing water from as much of the body as possible. The film ones for me are the best interpretation.
The Atreides armour really suprised me when I saw it. My initial thinking was why would they need something like that unless it's a kind of space suit or atmosphere suit. If they couldn't use the normal body shield it would be good protection but they're not going to walk around in it all the time.
Totally agree about the strong female character aspect. I saw Stellan talking about playing the Baron and being in make-up for ages as he "had to be really really fat" so I'm intrigued to see him too. Apparently they got him for his eyes, so the Baron could be calculating. I must say I wondered about how much they could stick to the book with this new version, and actually the obesity thing was the first aspect that came to mind.

Hopefully we will get a trailer soon and see how things look in motion. I still have high hopes for it, but Im not holding my breath that they will stick to the source to close.

Don't pre-judge the look of the movie based on promotional photos... they light things differently when they film the movie... But as they are, it looks more cosplay than movie, but lighting makes a huge difference, never mind the post processing and colour grading... The cinematographer is pretty good. He shot Killing Them Softly and Mary Magdalene...

Only popped into this thread because I was wondering where the new poster came from. It looks pretty goofy. I hope that's not official work. It's the first thing that's made me unsure about the movie. The stills look fine.
We'll get a trailer after big movies start showing in cinemas again, so it's probably at least another two months.
Are you going to post this in every Dune thread until someone gives you attention? Here's your attention. Now shhh.

How do you mean? Which group would Deja Thoris be relevant to?
