Discuss Becoming Bond

What do you think? It lets me out. I prefer a hunky, suave, cool male playing James Bond not some black alpha female. Hollywierd have done it again. angry

Anybody who doesn't like it is a racist and misogynist and and and... How could anybody not love this? This move is both stunning and brave.

It's sad, but It's not a surprise at all. The 21st century will be known for its lack of creativity by directors, producers, writers of everything make-believe, e.g. movies, television shows, animation. Everything is being changed - replaced/rebooted/repeated - with main/recurrent characters played by actors of other/different gender, race, ethnicity than the previous 'original' ones.

James Bond cannot escape this wave of change. It was already happening: M, Miss Moneypenny, and now 'James Bond'. The name will now be just a 'code name', and anyone can play this agent.

As the majority has already accepted the previous changes (M, Miss Moneypenny) in the past, so will this be embraced with little resistance.

Money talks, and many other franchises have made a lot of money (hundreds of millions to billions of US dollars) by taking television shows, movies and franchises in this direction.

TPTB will not care too much about what the dissatisfied group thinks; they'll only look at the viewers, the numbers that watch the shows and the movies. And even this (small) group of discontent willl watch and pay, not once , but each time, again and again, when there's a new show (episode) or movie. Out of curiosity, just hoping that it's not as bad, or that one day things will be back to as it was before the change?

But by watching, this movie and the next and all the others, they become part of the total numbers that will make it a success, and that will confirm to TPTB that this change was the right choice.

For them, one can protest as much as one likes, but as long as most will keep watching - paying - they'll continue.

What other shows, movies, animations and franchises are still left untarnished? They'll soon follow...

James Bond already started changing with Daniel Craig, and now it's entering its next phase. What will become of it?

Since 2005, for me, it's not something to look forward to anymore. It's become just another spy movie franchise, with an agent from the British secret service, code name 'Bond, James Bond, Agent 007', whomever that may be.

THE DUDE HAS BEEN SAVING THE WORLD FOR LIKE 50 YEARS...WE ALREADY UNDERSTAND THAT BOND IS A CODENAME FOR DIFFERENT AGENTS.ANYONE THIS ADVERSE TO FEMALES MUST HAVE A SERIOUS CASE OF KNUCKLE BURN ON HIS HATE STICK.

How to kill a franchise 101.

James Bond has been dead to me since 2006.

I've never been a Bond fanatic, and I can't stand Daniel Craig, so I've not been watching these most recent movies. However, I used to enjoy the Brosnan ones well enough. I expected sort of thing to happen, once the franchise moved on from Craig. There have been folks asking for a black male Bond for years, so I guess the studio/producers had to one-up the fans by making Bond not only black but a female, as well.

Talk about hyperbole. Jesus, y'all get a fucking grip. It's just part of the storyline they want to tell. James Bond is still being played by Daniel Craig.

Did you not read the article. When Daniel Craig retires as 007.

And of course they cast the most unnatractive black actress they could find. There are hot black women out there. Why is Hollywood discriminating against them? And by the way, they do realize this is going to kill the franchise stone cold dead right? Instead of pandering to the old school Bond fans they are going for the young #MeToo/woke movement. Basically the people that wont go support your film. Sad.

Oh well at least I have the whole Bond series on Blu-ray and will re-watch right from the first one. Ian Flemming would be rolling in his grave.

I read the article. That's just a story point. All this means there will be a new Bond in further movies (since it Daniel Craig's last film). This doesn't mean she'll be taking over the franchise.

Unless they kill her off in the film, she will 100% be taking over as the new 007 in the next film/films. Can you imagine the outrage if they hire a male or gasp a white male as the new James Bond. Nah fuck that we going with a black woman! Extra +10 points if she turns out to be a lesbian!

Bond 25:

Bond returns from retirement and enters M's office. Standing in the office is the new 007. A tall black woman: Miss Nomi.

"Ah, Bond, meet the new 007."

"New, sir?"

"Yes, we thought you'd retired for good. You went off the grid in Jamaica. We can't have our best 00 dormant. What would the taxpayers say? It was necessary to assign your 00 prefix to Miss Nomi."

Miss Nomi extends her hand in friendship.

"Good morning, Commander Bond."

"If you're 007 and I'm 007 that must make us 0014?"

"That joke was removed from the last draft of the screenplay, Bond."

"Sorry, sir."

The Bond franchise is not continuous between each actor. When they cast the next Bond it will be by a new director, new writers, basically a reboot of sorts like it has been done the past 57 years. This is just a story to end Craig's run on Bond.

A man after my own heart. They managed to completely ruin Bond with Casino Royale and it only got worse with each successive stinker after it. Gone was the charismatic wise cracking and fun bond and gadgets etc. what you got was a lazy uninteresting Jason Bourne vol 2. with zero charisma. Even the most stubborn fans must have had to realize the series was truly lost when Moneypenny started having her own adventures in the movie(s). Yawn.
