I found myself marveling at Bill Nye's waffling between saying "I just want to convince people to change their mind" and "Climate-deniers are idiots/ignorant/the worst possible people." OK, so the second quote (and likely the first) were not direct quotes, but you get the idea. As I watched the film, I became more impressed with how he would sit down and be reasonable with people with whom he did not agree.
One particular case, which is really detrimental to his stated goal, is to allow room for religious faith. Instead, it seems he continually pits religion against science (or the opposite) to his own ultimate demise. I'm sure some of you won't agree with me, as this is a common fallacy in our modern discourse, but as several of the guest interviews indicated, there is room to be both a person of science and a person of faith.
As one of the women being interviewed said so eloquently,"Bill, what is your goal?"
