Discuss How Green Was My Valley

The faux Irish accents instead of Welsh, a grown man played by a 12 year old actor, people breaking into song at the drop of the hat and sunny America being used to represent a sodden, grimey Wales (which I think Ford did a great job of in the circumstances). But if you can see beyond all that (probably helps to not be Welsh) this is a great observation of late 19th century Wales and the social and political upheavals of the time.

The message, if there should be one, is that a little moderation and compromise never hurt anyone. The film may be almost 80 years old, but the message is timeless.

Wisdom may last forever. Quality does indeed shine through. It was quite a moving film, and it thoroughly involved me with multiple characters right until the end. Definitely a highlight from the Golden Era of Hollywood.
