So I can have this explained to me! Seriously, film is so weird and makes no sense. The whole seems like it was shot as a dream sequence. Dont get me wrong, its a fun slow burn but I think we needed a little more help with the story.

Yeah, apparently all a dream she had in the car motivated in part by anxiety about her mother and boyfriend who left town. Of course they had to set it up with a little discussion about the multiverse or it would have been super cheesey to end it with "and it was all a dream."

When she 'woke up' at the end it looked like Oliva had blood on her white shirt. So I thought maybe she died and is stuck in a type of purgatory. I think it would have been better if she actually died from falling into the water on the dock and everything we saw was a flash before she crossed over.

I think they would have made it more obvious if that was the case.
The red pattern on her shirt is just a sort of tie dye dealio. She has that same shirt on in the beginning in the car and at the fast food joint.

Yeah, you are right. She has the same shirt on as in the start of the film, just went back. But Char has a black shirt instead of the white shirt from the start.

I think the point with the story is that waking life is just as real as dream life, or it just capitalized on the multiverse theory and showed a different version of the lead's reality.
