Discuss Ghostbusters

A lot of people are saying they didn't like this movie, but I liked it. I liked that Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy were more 'subdued' than usual. Plus Chris Hemsworth dancing at the end? I literally drooled. I had drool on my chin.

I don't think you actually liked it. I think you convinced yourself that you liked it.

I liked it. Could not find anything in the movie to complain about & I saw the original in the theater when it came out. Just got the Blu-Ray gift set.

My sister's kids liked it. They were grade school age, which is probably the best age to see the kind of movie where a big joke is that one character is so dumb that he takes out the lenses of his glasses when they get dirty instead of cleaning them.

I never saw it, and never plan on seeing it. All I heard was how terrible the writing was and how bad the whole story was. Not to mention the sour taste the actors, director, and studio left in peoples mouths after doubling down and saying that fans of the original who dont like this are sexist and still live at home with their parents...yeah. And of course the political spin they tried to put on it with "Im with Her"...yeah didnt work out for them either. If people want to see how not to handle a marketing campaign/ promotion of a film, look no further.

I thought it was alright. It comes nowhere close to the originals, of course, and I doubt that I'll see it again anytime soon, but I smiled and even chuckled in several scenes, and I definitely don't think it deserved all the hate it got.....half a year before it's release. xD

it was ok. i laughed at times but not enough. wasn't as terrible as some people claimed but it wasn't that great either. for the money they spent making it, it should have been better.

I was actually angry, when I heard that this was being made. I saw BOTH trailers and I think I chuckled once. Maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment, or perhaps curiosity got the best of me, but I decided to give it a watch. I liked some of Feig's other movies (especially "SPY") so I figured what the hell. It was NO classic, but I actually enjoyed it. As the Op said, Wiig & McCarthy were subdued, and that helped a lot. Leslie Jones was pretty funny. But, Kate McKinnon was absolutely HILARIOUS. Her expressions and ad libbed comments had me laughing harder than I ever thought I would, at this movie. Like the original, the funniest moments were the subtleties in the actors deliveries. Again, not a classic, and an extremely unnecessary re-make. But, not as bad as I originally thought.

I enjoyed the reboot. I haven't watched SNL for decades so the cast was mostly new to me. This was the first time I'd seen Kate McKinnon in anything and I loved her character. I never understood the hatred this movie received from the first announcement, but I don't understand blatant sexism anyway.

My initial feelings, towards this movie, had nothing to do with sexism and EVERYTHING to do with Hollywood and their unnecessary re-makes.

I wasn't implying your response was sexist, but there was a lot of sexist bullcrap thrown at the movie at the time it came out, and that's what I never understood.

I hear you. Sexism, racism, it's like it's the 1950's all over again.

To be fair, the original movie was also for very much for kids & families... Remember, this was the 80s and teens were busy watching sexy and scary mobies like Body Double & A Nightmare on Elms Street... Even their superhero movies were violent and symbolic like Robocop...

Saw this with my kids at Citywalk at Universal in Orlando...we're Annual Passholders & one hot day at the parks we wanted to cool off somewhere COLD and decided to see this in IMAX...we laughed, we enjoyed! I bought the Blu Ray as well! Only thing I wasn't too fond of was it wasn't clear if this was a reboot or alternate universe or what (they made a comic book with the old cast meeting the new cast in a cross universe issue)..but it was a fun flick nevertheless!
