The only notable difference is Sony gets the money instead of Disney.

BTW , Marvel only had a 2 picture deal with Sony for Spider-Man, so a joint 3rd film is still up in the air. There was an insider rumor that stated that for Sony to continue partnership with Marvel on Spider-Man: Far from Home would have to break a billion. Looks like at least that's not a factor anymore when Marvel renegotiates their deal with Sony for further films.

If they wanted to Marvel kids just strip Sony of the rights to Spider-Man that would require a huge payment to Sony would probably years bleed 2 years lawsuits but they could do it. The only reason they don't I think is that Sony has been willing to negotiate and not just since the failure of Amazing Spider-Man 2. For The Avengers movie in 2012 Marvel ask for permission the show Oscorp towers in the New York City skyline Sony agreed the scene was cut. as long as Sony is reasonable and willing to negotiate I don't think Marvel will pull the nuclear option.

One of the reasons why they agreed to the partnership with Marvel in the first place was because Sony lost a lot of credibility after they were hacked. Many people in the entertainment industry refused to work with Sony afterwards because they were mentioned scathingly in many of the emails and others didn't like some of Sony's practices that were detailed. Them deciding to work with Disney/Marvel restored a ton of good faith that they had lost because of it. Imagine the backlash Sony would get if they decided to screw with the American biggest movie company after all that.

Sony was hacked in 2014, but as I pointed out, Sony was already willing to negotiate with Marvel as early as 2010-2011, long before the hack, and long before either of the "Amazing Spider-Man' movies was released. Sony has always been on much better terms with Marvel than Fox, which was never even willing to negotiate.

Sony was never serious about negotiating with Marvel. They actually had other plans for Spider-Man which were brought out by the hack. The hack changed everything around Sony, and Disney/Marvel saw an opportunity they could use.

As I already pointed out, in 2011, when the first Avengers movie was in production, Marvel asked Sony for permission to show Oscorp Towers in the New York skyline during the final battle, Sony immediately granted permission. In the end, the scene was cut.
Another example of Sony and Marvel being on good terms would be the second failed Ghost Rider movie. When it was clear that the movie was a failure, Sony simply gave the rights back to Marvel, unlike Fox who refused to even negotiate with Marvel when Marvel offered to extend the rights to Daredevil in exchange for the right to use Galactus and the Silver Surfer in Infinity War. Fox told Marvel to go pound sand and just sat on the Daredevil until they expired.
