Discuss Spider-Man: Far From Home

For those who read the comics: what is the reason for this eternal hatred? What ill has Spiderman ever done to JJJ? I don't mean this film in partcular, but the Spiderman industry in general - films, TV shows and comics.

BTW, I thought it was brilliant to include JJJ in this film, even just for a few minutes. As awful and obnoxious JJJ is, IMO a Spiderman film without him - is incomplete. It was also a brilliant idea to portray him by the actor who played him so greatly in Sam Raimi's film trilogy and in other media.

It's because Spider-Man takes headlines away from his son, John Jameson, who is an astronaut. JJJ believes his son should get more press as he's a real hero who doesn't hide behind a mask.

No, not really. There is no reason for JJJ's hate, it is completely irrational. The thing that Lee and Ditko were going for is that there are some people you just can't convince, sone people are going to hate you no matter what you say or do. In his anti-Spider-Man rants, he often makes good points, Spider-Man is a vigilante, he wears a mask, why should anyone take Spider-Man's claims at face value etc but none of these are the reason WHY he hates Spider-Man, because there is no reason except that haters gonna hate.

He's actually said it in several issues (and the cartoons) that he thinks his son is a real hero and is angry that people pay more attention to masked vigilantes instead. I liked the take in the first Spider-Man movie in that JJ's just a TLC type tabloid reporter that is just looking for sensationalist headlines to sell papers, but even then (in the second movie) he still goes on to state that his son is more of a hero than Spider-Man.
