Discuss Spider-Man: Far From Home

Maybe I am too old for this sh!t, but I found this movie childishly silly and incoherent, with very weak villain and embarrassing story. I did like the first movie a lot, so it's not that I have some prejudice against stories involving teens. But this fake and unrealistic awkwardness of Peter in his relationship with MJ, the stupid hand touching and embarrassing looks and talks, it's not how teenagers in this age behave. And I know it's Disney and the world view they are pushing in all their products is of infantile and extremely naive and romanticized reality, but where was Marvel to cut all that bullsh!t? Teens in our age are sharp, bitter and cynical, they know all about sex and watch porn and don't give a sh!t about authority. After seeing Zendaya in Euphoria and the kind of character she can present, watching her stuttering in new Spiderman was a one large yawn and eyes rolling for me. And with all that she did a decent job if you compare her to awful appearance of Tom Holland, that took the insecure geek teenager persona to the whole new cringe level. The entire movie felt like it was written by clueless grownup writers in their 40s.

And as for the story itself, Marvel are starting to lose it. The plot was incredibly silly on all levels, and reminded me the worst parts of Antman 2. After years of strong and meticulous control of the MCU, Marvel are starting to lose the grip and the result is spinning wildly into chaos. Peter Parker is maybe still a teenager that prefers to hang out with his friends, but that is not excuse for his naivety. And it's not part of the character's development, it's just genuine infantility. The way they explained the origin of the villain and his group can be described only as lazy. There was nothing appealing or remotely interesting in Mysterio, his extremely narcissistic motivation and psychopathic tendencies are not properly explained and no plausible at all. It feels like Marvel got themselves in the corner with all the twists and turns and all the illusions and skrulls, and just shooting to all directions to get out of it. But for now they are just shooting themselves in the foot.

And don't start with me about how this is a light summer movie, and it's Disney entertainment for a family, I don't buy this cowardice.

Though I do not consider the film so bad as it is in your eyes, I find Tom Holland as rather poor portrayal of Spiderman, in comparison to Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Too childish, too naive.

I do not like Marisa Tomei as aunt May either. C'mon, she is supposed to be Peter's mother figure, not act as his big sister! The comments about her sexuality (in the former film) were just out of place. Rosemary Harris and Sally Field were much better in that role. Yes, I know Merisa is 55 years old and Tom is 23, and it makes no difference.

You have a very stupid idea of what an aunt is? An aunt can either be your best friend or your worst nightmare. Either wake up in the 21st century or shut up! As for Tom there's nothing wrong with his portrayal either, cupcake.

You are stupid, retarded and obnoxious swine.

Why does a moron like you think he/she can silence me?! I will say whatever I want!

Obviously you never read the comics. May is Peter's aunt, but she has always been Peter's surrogate mother, and never acted as his big sister. Idiot.

As for Tom's acting: I have the right to have a different opinion than yours. If you have a problem with that - it's your problem. Moron.

You can disagree with me all you want, but you do not have to offend and curse me.

If I continue offending retarded dog shit like you then my job is done. Don't say retarded shit then I won't have to set you straight. You cunt.

And I didn't really "curse" you I just said you have a very dated old fashioned idea of what an aunt is. I insulted your narrow minded views. If I read stupid on here I have to set it straight if you don't want to be set straight then think before you post.

Also, I don't know what kind of hard faced heart eating demon whore your mother was, but mothers are usually supposed to be like wise friends or wise big sisters in a playful way to their children. The fact your mother didn't abort a twat like you must tell you your mother went well and above the call of duty to be nice to you.

Good discussion guys, very informative (facepalm)

Definitely! relaxed

The funny part is that bozo thought I was gonna read his/her responses. I added it to the ignore list right after writing the second post.

No probs, funny thing is, strawberry midgetcake thinks I care if he/she/transgender/ read my replies to he/she/transgender. He/she/transgender posted like an old fashioned primitive dunce so I treated him/she/transgender like one, simples.

I think I can sympathize with you D-magic, I couldn't relate to the whole "Generation Z" kiddie issues faced in this movie. I'm trying my best not to be biased because of it and, in hindsight, I DID enjoy this one much more then Homecoming.

The previous film was compently made but dumb and boring and I have no interest in this. As for teenagers in film and TV, I've rarely found them realistic but Disney and Nick are among the worst offenders.
