Various classification boards have rated a teaser trailer of a minute to a minute and twenty-four seconds long, with the BBFC (UK board) stating a release date of 14th December: http://www.bbfc.co.uk/releases/mortal-engines-filmtrailer-0
There's been some speculation that it might be attached to The Last Jedi.

At least you didn't say Mad Max! I'd imagine author Philip Reeve must have seen the CPA at some stage and it sunk in a bit.
The books are well worth a read; if they make all four I'll be very disappointed if they don't keep the ending.
