Discuss Bohemian Rhapsody

Probably, the movie of the year 2018,one of my favorite bands ever, loved them since their beginning early 70s when the electric glam rock was starting to take over. Bowie, T.Rex,Slade etc, they stood out thanks to their unique style and Freddy's very typical voice fingerprint and unparalleled vocal range which turned the band and himself into a musical 'force-of-nature', fathers of the arena and pop rock genres. I remember vividly 1973 how I ran to buy the 45 RPM 'Killer Queen" as soon as I heard it on the radio, and I still have it. I saw the movie looking for entertainment and ended up with a rumination of sadness and nostalgia of how his life went by, anyway !!! Live on Freddy, the show must go on !!!

I think your love of the band has clouded your judgment.

Great performance by Remi Malek, mediocre film.

No. It didn't win 7 Oscars in 2018.

I found it disappointing .Malek was okay but I think Dominic Cooper looked more like Mercury(Watch The Devil's Double).I think his Pacific fellow actor Mazello looked quite like John Deacon. As for the movie itself I found it chaotic and messy and going through the various periods at breakneck speed while probably focusing too much on the Live Aid performance. Also the movie took some liberty with the truth. For example from what I have seen in interviews and have seen in documentaries about Queen Mercury was diagnosed with AIDS in 1987 not 1985 and didn't inform his bandmates he had AIDS untill the time of around The Miracle album which is almost four years after Live Aid.

I'm with you. Don't remember much else from that year but for what BR had to do to tell the story it did it right. Wasn't a critics favorite but Queen was never one either.

Shakespeare in Love was good too
