Here we go again. When will Hollywood learn that simply turning a character a different color isnt progressive and brave, its insulting and lazy. I mean really how hard is it to write original stories with black or brown leads. At least this time they didnt race swap a redhead....seriously, I think Hollywood is out to get redheads out of film!

Race swap? Since when? If you knew anything about the story you'd know J. M. Barrie never described Peter's appearance in detail, even in his novel, leaving it to the imagination of the reader and the interpretation of anyone adapting the character. Peter Pan doesn't have a set race. Now please take your bigoted comments elsewhere.

You can call BS... OR (in less time than it took to write this nonsense doubling down on your racism) You could have just looked up the FACT.

Originally Peter Pan was played by women, I don't see you bitching about that!

I had to watch the trailer again after reading the OP to notice that Peter wasn't Aryan. I did notice that the Lost Boys were a mixed bunch but, as they were a decent mix rather than just monochrome, gave it no thought beyond that.

Dido Elizabeth Belle, considered the first black British Aristocrat, was born in 1761 to a young British naval officer called John Lindsay promoted to Admiral and an African woman named Maria Belle.

She had three sons, one of which served the military and two of which were employed with the East India Company. They also had children, with her last known descendant dying in 1975. There was also Sara Forbes Bonetta born in 1843 who became the ward and god daughter of Queen Victoria and later married Captain James Pinson Labulo Davies in Brighton, East Sussex whom she had three children with descendants still surviving today in Britain.

Bro you are reaching beyond believe over here. Like all those kids grew up and had status till the day they left this earth. And even if they did, thats like less than 1% of the ruling/upper class back than. You make it seem like black people ruling white British people was common sight back in the day. Wait I bet you think Cleopatra was black as well right? My point is the woke culture is trying to re write history, well documented history. Something I cant stand. Its basically a meme at this point. Its race pandering and its disgusting.

I've never said they were all over the place, but they were there. Even when shows do have POCs in the British aristocracy they unusually only have 1 or 2 characters that are such as Bridgerton being the most egregious, less than a dozen. It's pretty hyperbolic to say that 1 or 2 or even a dozen POCs in a show/movie means they were common.

I have zero issues with more POC in shows and in movies. I just take issue with the way Hollywood and media in general are going about it. Basically trying to re write history in a lame attempt to get points with the woke crowd. I find it really funny how they never come up with original content or even African stories/folklore. Instead they just re tell the same stories but this time lets race/sex swap around characters and it will be great!

I look at this way, stories like Peter Pan have had many many version and retellings (over 50 in this case), a new one isn't really a big deal anymore and definitely not one to put your foot down for.
