The one thing that has always thrown me with this film is that Chuck Connors was strangely cast as the Captain of a British Submarine. While Connors looks the part, he doesn't even try to do any type of British accent.
Now, the Japanese have often cast Americans and British interchangeably in their films I think because they can't tell the difference in accents. It reminds me of Nicholas and Alexandra where the American ambassador to Russia speaks with a thick British accent (hey, maybe it was a British expat?).
But this has me wondering... would it be possible for the British Navy in 1980 to have hired on Canadians as officers? That could have explained a few things. It might also happen here and there that someone raised in America as a child would be able to join the British military forces and not have a British accent. Thoughts?
