Questionable Comedy

Outrageous and over the top scenes...
A little flat, perhaps a laugh track would have helped.

I hear that. It looks like they spent 90% of the time making a serious drama that would appeal to the emotions of the viewer, but towards the end decided that maybe it's a comedy movie after all and started adding space monkeys, space pirates, mars races and stuff like that into the movie. I suppose they did a good job because the movie has atleast something for just about everyone to laugh at.
