Discuss Get Out

First off I just saw this movie yesterday and really enjoyed it. I read nothing about it and avoided trailers etc... so it was a nice surprising thriller for me. I especially loved how they did not drag out his escape at the end with unrealistic fighting. He dealt with most of them swiftly and efficiently. I also liked the ending, sure the original was more realistic and had more drama but I thought the humorous ending was actually very original and a real surprise. I totally expected him to get shot or arrested! To me adding this funny, unexpected twist was a great way to finish it.

Any who ... here is what I didn't get. Seeing all the men she had brought home previously (and only one woman) whose bodies would be potentially bought by the highest bidder then switched... wouldn't there have been a few more of these transformed men at the party? Even just as examples of the success of the program?

The two that were the Grandparents, I got were early experiments and not quite perfect... at least that was my take away. Still great movie imo, very well done.

But that's like having a Tupperware party with only one sample... just from a commerce point of view it would have made sense.

I think that more black people would have sent a much stronger warning to the new body. There's no way this oddball group would have so many young black men marrying so many older women. That would just draw too much attention and get him thinking too much.

The impression I got is that, because this happens yearly, on the same day, their community knows very well what they do, and have no doubt seen all kinds of samples back at their homes in real life. They came to an auction for their chance, not to kick the tires and test the brand quality that Rose's parents maintain - the only question was, how much were they willing to pay for this particular specimen up for bid.

In the DVD extras there is an alternative ending where Chris does get arrested and goes to prison. They show him and Rod having a conversation as he returns to his cell.

That one would have been such a gut punch ending. I too thought it was going to end on the more dramatic note upon the first viewing.

That was my take as well.
