Discusión Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

Its todays generations and the things we see and hear on media

Like.. Compare a 10 year old who was born in the 80's versus a 10 year old born in 2009, the things he seen in comics, internet, etc etc

Shows like ghost hunting where its almost like a sport to see and capture a ghost, and in some cases.. Its almost like a joke

Its just how it is.. Unfortunately

And not just the young generations

People who are very exposed to current media and all... Watching a horror / scary movie is not what it seems anymore

The 65% on this site must be a joke. I just watched this, and I thought it was great. Better written and scarier than anything put out by R. L. Stein. Horror movies don't ever really scare me, but this movie creeped me out like no end. Del Torro is a wonderful writer, and yes I know he only wrote the screenplay based on a book of folk strories collected by Alvin Schwartz.

I'm with you, fortunately, I raised my kids appreciating many of the "classics"...from King Kong to Dracula, Frankenstein, Mummy & Wolfman to a some of the classic 70s & 80s...

we saw this last night and they LOVED it..especially the beginning, giving a "retro" 60s feel, the music, Night of the Living Dead playing at the Drive-In, the cliché "Its Halloween, let's visit a haunted house" MY generation used to make up in stories as a kid! Did I mention I LOVED it! The "execution" of the stories was a bit lacking IMO (how they were being written & happening in real time), but I like how they took a chance on something different vs just going the Anthology method.

While I agree with the OP that it wasn't that scary, I did enjoy it and thought it was well made. There were the usual "why would they do that" moments e.g. Auggie hiding under the bed but overall it was pretty good.

Will there be a sequel? I've never read or heard of the books but guess a sequel would be centred around getting the two friends back. Would they have to go into a parallel world, sort of like Stranger Things?
