Discuss American Assassin

Three reviewers who saw it agreed that it did not seem like a fit for the big screen aside from the ending. They also said there was a tacked on big scene that was really out of place. They suggest wait to watch it at home. You can see the reviewsenter link description here below.

Hardly a surprise. A generic actioner released after Labor Day? Even with Michael "I did it for the paycheck" Keaton aboard, this always looked like a belated attempt to kickstart a franchise. Studios telegraph their expectations by releasing films like this when they do.

I also think that Made in America which is due soon will add some title confusion to some. I think the curse of Taylor K. is alive and well.

You're not stupid enough to be using a paycheck against Michael Keaton are you...

Not my intention. I am saying, though, that he's a smart enough actor to realize just how generic a film like this is, realize that appearing in it won't hurt his reputation, and still collect the paycheck.

That's an interesting thought. Your right; after Labor Day is after the big summer hit season. Of course there's always a surprise or two during the fall, and even sometimes around January or February, but there's always something about them that make them unable to compete big time with the summertime blockbuster season...hence the fact it is released after Labor Day.

I liked American Assassin; the movie had me cheering for the guy who kept ignoring orders.

Well, I must admit it had a B-level look at times, which doesn't bother me. The ending is the one thing I didn't care for--as you said, it was Hollywood-ish. But I must admit, I don't know what ending would have been better.
